Last seen levitating on the fast lane to fame...

2. February 2010

Time flies while you are having fun...

It's now ten months since our last news update and here is a quick summary of what has been happening with us in these days gone by.

"Money Shaker" from our  Dreams of the Delta album has been used on an ad in Finland.

Please go here  to watch the ad.

Paul has been doing a lot of work with Boy Cried Wolf and the release of their new EP is imminent. You can listen to a track from the EP on their site. While recording the album Paul and Wayne also collaborated with a fistful of very well known artists - please check their site for an up-coming and official announcement.

He has also worked with The Mummers when they were recording their debut album Tale to Tell. Paul's magical Dobro and E-bow talents grace the title track. The album is out now.

Meanwhile Claudio has been busy writing and arranging the music for his next album A Magic Mirror for Mr.M. This spring will see the recording of instrumental and orchestral parts . The album will be mixed in The Blue Backroom.

Currently Mr. M is without a place to call his home and is looking for an inspired label where he can rest his weary hat.

There's also a new website featuring Claudio's solo work here.

Last but not at the very least Liftmusic will publish a good number of new tracks written and co-written by Paul in this year's run of releases of production music albums.

19. April 2009

Resistance Liz Crow's short film for which Claudio wrote most of the music and arranged pieces by Barnaby Taylor which he had written for it, was today premiered at The Watershed Cinema in Bristol and was really well received. You can see a clip from the film in our Showreel page.

This very good film deals with the euthanasia programme Action T4 in Nazi Germany and dramatises the selection, systematic deportation and murder of an estimated 275000 people with disabilities by the fascist regime by way of focusing on a group of people as they are about to be transported to the gas chambers. The finished film will travel as part of a visual installation from September this year.

We have also very nearly got the contract for a brand new Littlewoods TV ad. We were approached to write the music for this spot and though our music was very well received we didn't get the final nod and our names are now sadly missing on the dotted line...

Better luck next time, no doubt.

28. March 2009

Porch Songs, our new production music album with The Standard Music Library,  was released last month and will hopefully do well for us in the time to come.  Since completing work on the album at the beginning of this year we have both been busy with work on new albums:

Paul and his band Boy Cried Wolf have been in the studio with Pedro Fereirra recording their debut album which is now in the last stages of mixing and should be completed soon.

Claudio is now half way through writing a collection of pieces for an acoustic ensemble consisting of piano, cello, violin, flute, clarinet, bassoon and the occasional tuba and ukulele. This album hasn't as yet been scheduled for release by a label, but has had interest from The Standard Music Library and Claudio thinks it's likely that it will be taken up before long.

This month has also seen the release of the 44th  Liftmusic album entitled Kidz Stuff  and three of Claudio's tunes have made it onto this CD. Last year Paul co-wrote a collection of contemporary tango tunes a la Gotan Project and he is currently co-writing an album of psychedelic rock tracks. Both sets of tunes are due to be released by Liftmusic this year.

Last but not least our 1-minute advert pieces will also shortly be released by Liftmusic on their collection of tailor made music for TV, Cinema and Radio advertising called Ad Breakz. It's good to see them go out there and maybe one or the other will pop up on a screen near you soon. Let's hope that won't be on an ad for a bankers retirement fund...

With that in mind we hope to continue to be as busy as we are now in the hope that one day we too can be the proud owners of a Caribbean Island or two together with our very own Boeing 747...

8.December 2008

With the end of the year nearly upon us - here a quick round-up of what we've been up to.

Last week we finished the last mixing tweaks for our up-coming release with The Standard Music Library.

The album will be mastered in London before Christmas and is scheduled for release at the end of January 2009. We are very pleased with the way the music has turned out, especially after an additional recording session in Bristol where we recorded extra strings and flute for some of the tracks. We are quite proud of the result and hope that the music will do well.

The Standard Music Library
also asked us to contribute a track each for their up-coming 100th album. To celebrate their centenary they will be producing a compilation album featuring a selection of artists who write for the label  and we feel very flattered to have been asked to write music for this release.

We have also both been busy writing lots more music for Liftmusic in Brighton with new material being released in the New Year on a range of albums.

Paul is now away recording the Boy Cried Wolf album which is being produced by Pedro Fereirra and Claudio will be doing the sound post-production for a documentary by Robin Toyne with whom he also worked on Park Life . He'll also be putting the finishing touches on a couple of pieces of music before Xmas.

We hope everybody has had a really good year and we wish everyone a fab holiday and the very best for 2009!

4. October 2008

It's been a while since our last up-date so here we go...:

Paul is currently very busy gigging and rehearsing with Boy Cried Wolf. The band recently recorded at Dan Hawkins studio (The Stone Gods) and are due to record their debut album there in December. He has recently done session work with The Darkness' producer Pedro Ferreira and is currently also co-producing for a track for the second half of The Mummers' new album Tale to Tell

Claudio has just finished the score for the short film Resistance by Liz Crow of Roaring Girl Productions.

This very good film deals with the euthanasia programme Action T4 in Nazi Germany and dramatises the selection, systematic deportation and murder of an estimated 275000 people with disabilities by the fascist regime by way of focusing on a group of people as they are about to be transported to the gas chambers.  The finished film will travel as part of a visual installation and will hopefully also find a good reception at film festivals in this country and abroad. Claudio took over writing the music from Barnaby Taylor who had already done some work on the score but was unable to finish work on it due to deadline pressures from his work for the BBC. All involved in the film are very pleased with the way it has turned out and Claudio is delighted to have had the opportunity to work on it.

We also continue to write music for Liftmusic and a good number of our tracks will soon be released on their up-coming albums. All our music with them is also available for auditioning, download and licensing via their online distribution service. You can register here and get access to their growing library of very good production music.

Finally our album with The Standard Music Library will now go into its last state of revision with the A&R department of the label and should be released before the year is out.

28. July 2008

We are very happy to announce that we will be releasing our second production music album very soon...

The album will be released by established label The Standard Music Library which is part of the Bucks Music Group. It will be full of weird and wonderful blues music and what you are hearing now is one of the pieces that we've written for it. Please navigate the audio player above to listen to three of the recordings that have made it onto the album.

We've also just returned from our three days at the BRITDOC Film Festival. Please go here to see some pictures of us at Kebel College, Oxford:  see us wearing a mean moustache. We had a really great time there and met a lot of very, very nice and very interesting people.

Paul is now away for a week recording some new material with Boy Cried Wolf at Dan Hawkins  (The Stone Gods / ex  The Darkness) studio and when he's back we'll be putting the finishing touches on our album.

20. July 2008

We will be attending this year's Britdoc Documentary Film Festival in Oxford next week. The festival runs from 23.-25. July and many top filmakers of the genre will attend.

Britdoc has been giving away a number of complimentary passes to composers this year as they are aiming to bring together more composers and filmmakers and have made the soundtrack in documentaries a special theme for this festival. We applied and received two of those passes.

Michael Nyman and Nithin Sawhney will be there and give a masterclass on music in film as well as Larry Charles - director of "Borat" and "Curb your Enthusiasm" who will talk about comedy in documentary.

We are really looking forward to it....

16. June 2008

We have upload a second film clip from Park Life programme five to our Showreel section: it's a sequence about a pair of Asian lions with music by Claudio.

Park Life is first broadcast on Sunday 6. July at 6.00pm on ITV West and is then shown at the same time every week. There are six episodes.

An hour long version of Tony Benn - Defining Moments was screened at the Watershed Cinema in Bristol on Friday 13. June. The event was sold out and was a great success. Tony Benn was there for the screening and Claudio was lucky to have a brief moment with the man himself... A real honour. The first episode of the two TV broadcasts went out last Sunday and you can watch the second part of the film next  Sunday 22. June at 6.00 pm on ITV West.

If you would like to get instant access to our production music album Dreams of the Delta for a film or TV project you can do so now by visiting Boost Music. Once you've registered (which is quick) it's easy to browse their extensive catalogue of very good library music. You'll find our album in the Liftmusic catalogue - Lift 22 - where you can download broadcast quality files of each track.

14. May 2008

We have just finished writing and recording the title music for up-coming ITV West series Park Life - a documentary series about the Cotswolds Wildlife Park.

It's a very well made series about the animals that live there and the people who work with them. First transmission is on 15. June, 6.30 pm on ITV West. Claudio is also currrently doing the sound post-production at the Available Light Productions studio for all of the programmes.

To view a sequence from Park Life for which we wrote and recorded the music last week-end please visit our Showreel section. Meet the wolves...

In addition to that he has just written the title music and completed the sound post-production for a 2 part documentary about former MP, cabinet minister and now political activist Tony Benn for BBC 4 made by Available Light Productions. Two very good films they are too and a formidable man he is!

Claudio will be writing more music for Park Life in the weeks to come. Paul is busy rehearsing and playing with Boy Cried Wolf and they play their next gig on 16. May at 9.15 pm at the KING&QUEEN in Brighton as part of Brighton's Great Escape festival.

We have also just finished recording another set of one-minute ad breaks which you can audition in our Advertising section.

25. March 2008

We hope you enjoy them...

5. March 2008

The new Johnny Kingdom series  is now on BBC 2 on Tuesday and Wednesday nights at 8.30 pm. It is called Johnny's New Kingdom and it features more of our music. You can buy individual tracks in our Store section.

24. November 2007

Well, we are now more than just pleased to announce that Ray Gosling - OAP  has yesterday won the very prestigious Grierson Award for documentary film making in the UK in the category of most entertaining documentary.

This is a really great award to get and the film written and presented by Ray Gosling himself is indeed a worthy winner. Claudio did the sound post-production for this film, so he and all the production team from Available Light Productions who worked on it are now also all Grierson Award winners. Needless to say we are all thrilled to bits and praise goes out from our page to Ray, Collette (editor), Amanda (director) and David Parker (producer) for putting together this little gem.

4. November 2007

Things are moving on for us with Claudio having gone freelance in October. While he also continues to work in sound post-production, we are now spending a lot more time writing and recording our music.

We have just submitted a collection of contemporary blues tracks to a library label in London and are discussing the possibilities of recording a full album's worth of material for them. We have also written and recorded more music for Brighton based label Liftmusic in styles ranging from Argentine tango to 1920ies ragtime and have in the past months again contributed to the soundtrack of the second Johnny Kingdom series for the BBC.

10. September 2007

Music from the first Johnny Kingdom series now features in Alexandra Moskalenko's documentary Tea Time.

Paul's Johnny is Building a Hide has made it into the film which is about a year in the life of the Blackheath Tea Hut, a tea stall situated on the A2 Motorway, Greenwich, London, longitude 0°. It will initially be shown at film festivals in Europe with a view to also attract a suitable broadcaster in the future.

25. June 2007

We are officially beginning to travel the world...:

Apple Tree from our Dreams of the Delta album has now found its way into an advert in Finland. You can have a look in our Showreel section to find out which delights our music is currently bringing to the Finish people.

In other news....: We are currently working on a pitch for a second production music album. The music sounds good, has found approval and we are very hopeful that this commission will come off.

More of our music will now also feature in series two of the BBCs Johnny Kingdom programming. There will be 10 more episodes, transmitted early next year and Johnny will be talking, walking and stalking to the sound of us the little skinny white men amongst many other great sounding musicians.

And - we have also been contributing more tracks to Liftmusic's growing catalogue of quality leftfield production music.

19. January 2007

We are now selling our music from the BBC's  Johnny Kingdom - A Year on Exmoor  in the Store section of our site.

30. October 2006

You can audition the music we wrote for the BBC series  Johnny Kingdom - A Year on Exmoor  in our Library page.

All the rights in the music have remained with us and we are very happy to license this catalogue or individual tracks for further usage.

There, you'll also find more compositions available for licensing.

22. October 2006

We have now finished writing and recording all the music for the re-versioning of  Johnny Kingdom - A Year on Exmoor  for the BBC.

The re-versioned 10 part series will soon be released on DVD and will on completion of the final dub also be delivered to BBC Worldwide for worldwide sales.

Paul has also just recently finsihed a week-long recoding session at The Darkness new recording studio with his band  A Boy Cried Wolf  for their soon to be released EP . The EP was produced at the studio by  "The Darkness" lead guitarist Dan Hawkins.

20. September 2006

We have been commissioned to reversion the 10 part series  Johnny Kingdom - A Year on Exmoor with original music for BBC World-Wide distribution and DVD release.

13. August 2006

"Dreams of the Delta"  is off the press as of last week and can be ordered via BOOSTMUSIC.

7. August 2006

One of the tracks that did not make it onto the "Dreams of the Delta" album has found it's way into a BBC production that will premiere this October.

"Johnny Kingdom: A Year on Exmoor" will be aired on BBC 2 at 8.00 pm this autumn. The series follows West Country one-of-a-kind naturalist and filmmaker Johnny Kindom around his native Exmoor where he meets and quizzes the locals: the animals... - as well as the people.

Music from "Dreams of the Delta"  will also make it into the series.

14. July 2006

We have completed a production music album with fifteen compositions for a slide guitar and it's musical friends.

It is very good music...

The album is being released by LIFTMUSIC LTD at the end of this months.
